The Outlaws' Shed - Legends and Hidden Treasures

The Outlaws' Cave in Polovragi is a spectacular rock formation located near the Polovragi Cave in the Căpățânii Mountains. The place is shrouded in legends and stories that combine historical and mythological elements.

It is said that the Outlaws' Lodge was a refuge for outlaws during the times when they fought against the boyars and unjust rulers. The outlaws hid here due to its strategic position, from where they could oversee the entire area. Some stories mention that parties and banquets would have taken place here on the occasion of their victories against their oppressors.

Another legend says that an underground tunnel led from the Outlaws' Lair to the Polovragi Cave. It was believed that this tunnel was used either by outlaws to escape their pursuers, or even by the monks of the Polovragi Monastery to take refuge in times of danger.

Some stories say that outlaws hid their treasures in the area of the Outlaws' Cave. Legend has it that at night, at certain times of the year, lights can be seen floating around the rocks, a sign that the cursed gold is still waiting to be discovered.
