Explore the Căpățănii Mountains on an unforgettable off-road adventure! This ATV route combines wild nature with the history and legends of the Dacians, offering you spectacular landscapes and a road full of adrenaline.
Route details
- Starting point: Cernadia village
- Destination: Polovragi Cave and Olteț Gorges
- Distance: Approximately 20 km (round trip)
- Duration: 2-3 hours (depending on stops and visits)
- Difficulty: Easy – medium (suitable for all levels)
Route description
- Departure from Cernadia The route starts from our location in the village of Cernădia, on dirt, gravel and asphalt roads, crossing forested areas. The first part of the route is easy, ideal for getting used to the ATV
- Stop at the "Dacian Hearth" Sculpture Camp– A short break to discover this open-air museum, where impressive stone sculptures depict Dacian symbols and figures. – A perfect place for photos and to feel the connection with the ancestral past.
- Continuation to Polovragi Cave – The road becomes more spectacular as we approach the Olteț Gorges. – Optional stop to visit the Polovragi Cave, a place steeped in legends, where Zamolxis is said to have lived.
- Exploring the Olteț Gorges – We cross one of the narrowest gorges in Romania, with steep rock walls and impressive landscapes. – Ideal place for a break, relaxation and photos.
- The return – We return on the same route, giving us the opportunity to relive the wonderful landscapes and the feeling of off-road freedom.
